![]() ![]() ![]() What you end up with is a game with very high production values, of which only one third is ever truly enjoyable. Why include child abuse in a game if no character is ever going to mention it again? Why does this specific character feels suited to lead a revolution? Why does no one question him? Everything that happens in Detroit, save for Connor’s plot, feels disconnected, a chain of escalating events for maximum effect. Sure, it’s a good-looking game that offers parts much better than the overall sum, but I do believe that much of Detroit: Become Human doesn’t work because there’s no context no emotional payoff for the horrors you witness. Honest mistake or not, these associations are exactly what racial conflict is about, and instead of reflecting that, Detroit perpetuates age-old stereotypes. Play three distinct androids and see a world at the brink of chaos perhaps our future - through their eyes. They speak, move and behave like human beings, but they are only machines serving humans. And the current state of the game really makes me sad since I was looking SO forward to finally play it on PC. Technology has evolved to a point where human like androids are everywhere. I sense a severe lack of optimization here. You have to be aware how it reads to people of certain demographics when, during your shader compilation, players are shown a screen on which every android servant is a person of colour, and the romance model is Caucasian. Most of those games feature elements which are naturally way higher demanding on the CPU than what Detroit: Become Human should demand. 8K would solve that nicely. As a person of colour and a woman, I simply don’t see the necessity of strapping a conscious female character onto a torture device, or likening black people to machines through allegory. 8K is pretty useless for everything but the very largest TVs but on the deskto you can't put a larger 4K display close up without seeing pixels due to the low pixels per inch for its size. There are currently 835 players playing this game on Steam +. I can't wait until I can put a large 8K screen on my desk and use DLSS to upscale from whatever to the native resolution without performance issues. Detroit: Become Human is brought to PC with stunning graphics, 4K resolution, 60 fps framerate and full integration of both mouse/keyboard and gamepad controls for the most complete Detroit: Become Human experience to date. 1080p to 1440p is a much more noticeable jump. Having played around with different resolutions on PC, I find that as long as you are above 1440p it gets harder and harder to see the difference compared to native 4K. I agree that chasing native 4K is a fool's errand when something like DLSS 2.0 or even checkerboard rendering can deliver results that are quite close. Combined with other techniques it should give very good results. I expect that to be supported on next gen consoles. AMD's content aware sharpening works pretty nicely to sharpen details at a sub-4K resolution. It doesn't even need to be reconstructed. ![]()
